FLORENCE GOLDBERG

Florence “Flo” Rapkin Goldberg, 91, passed away peacefully of Alzheimer’s disease on May 9 in White Plains, New York. Flo was married to attorney Morton David Goldberg for 60 years, and was the loving, effervescent, generous mother of two daughters, Laura Jan Kuller (Steven Kuller) and Nanci B. Goldberg.

She is survived by her husband and extended family, whose love she also shared with grandchildren Charlotte Kuller, Eliza Kuller, Margot Kuller, and Lord Stanley Kuller; her twin brother Bill and sister-in-law Viv; and many nieces and nephews.

Fabulous friends of Flo have traveled the world with Mort and her, shared dinners at the most amazing Zagat- and Michelin- starred restaurants, and shopped from Canal Street to Saks together. With Met Opera season tickets and Broadway and off-Broadway shows to keep her busy, Flo lived life to the fullest. We should all have fun like Flo.

Flo was best known for her social network. Forget Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg had nothing on Flo, despite her never having had an e-mail account or Internet access. Flo made friends the old-fashioned way. She looked them in the eyes, told them about her grandchildren, her children, and her dear friends, and asked them about their own lives.

Flo also introduced her friends and family to one another, so by the end, many had become friends with one another. You’ve heard of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.” There may be five degrees of Flo Goldberg.

Flo’s funeral service was held Tuesday, May 11 at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home at 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, N.Y. 10570. Burial at Sharon Garden in Valhalla, N.Y. In furtherance of Flo's vibrant and colorful life, attendees wore colorful spring attire to honor the joy she brought to us all. Have fun like Flo.

If you’re so inclined, a contribution may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
