Charlotte Siegel

Charlotte Gordon Siegel, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Residence of the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg.

Charlotte was born in Harrisburg, PA on July 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Jacob and Sadie Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hyman Siegel, and also by her two sisters, Ethel Freedman and Ida Goldberg, and her brother Robert (Ruby) Gordon. Charlotte was a 1939 graduate of John Harris High School and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. She enjoyed knitting and made afghans for many friends and relatives.

She was a member of Chisuk Emuna Congregation and its Sisterhood, JCC Senior Adult Club, and the Friendship Center. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and took many trips with their good friends, Betty and Tom Mitchell. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved their Grammy Charlotte.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter Diane (Kenneth) Abrams of Garnet Valley, PA, her son Robert (Elaine) Siegel of West Hartford, CT, five grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Abrams of West Chester, PA, Shari (Matthew) Chappell of West Chester, PA, Adam (Aubrey) Siegel of Los Angeles, CA, Todd (Nancy) Siegel of Old Saybrook, CT, Katie Siegel of Brooklyn, NY, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three special nieces Jill Freedman, Marilyn (John) Stoner, Jackye (Henry) Silberman, and many other loving nieces and nephews. The family is very grateful to the nurses, staff, and aides at the Residence for the compassionate and loving care afforded to Charlotte, especially during her last months.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 9, 2019 in the Chisuk Emuna Cemetery Chapel, with Rabbi Ron Muroff officiating. Burial in the Chisuk Emuna Cemetery.
