MICHAEL COLEMAN

Michael Buch Coleman, z'l, 80 of Harrisburg passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home.

Born on July 23, 1941 in Harrisburg, Michael was the son of Bertha "Bert" Buch Coleman and Sondell "Sandy" Coleman.

He found joy and meaning in the little things in life, and when he found something that he loved, he made the most of that passion. He loved history, starting off his working life as a history teacher at John Harris High School, and later writing a history book about the Jews of Harrisburg, a beautiful and deeply researched work that is now being sold online for high value as a rare book.

He loved sports and was an avid follower and fan, especially of his favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. But his knowledge encompassed many sports, so that he eventually had his own sports talk show on the radio.

Michael loved the old and the new, delighting in history and old movies on TCM, but also diving into the world of Facebook and social media.

Michael is survived by his sister Ellen Kay Coleman of Philadelphia and many devoted cousins and friends near and far.

Private funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Beth El Cemetery officiated by Rabbi Ariana Capptauber. A memorial to celebrate his life will be planned in the future on Zoom.
