John J. Wysocki

John J. Wysocki, 86, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital. He was the loving husband of Rita M. (Toploski) Wysocki, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage, and who preceded him in death in 2012.

Born in Shenandoah, PA, John was a son of the late Benjamin and Alice (Arminas) Wysocki.

John proudly served in the United States Navy. He later worked for the Railroad and for TRW as an Expediter. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and American Legion Post #1001. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, high school sports, the Phillies, and Penn State Football.

He is survived by daughter Debra Wysocki of Harrisburg, son John Wysocki and wife Terri Travers, of Harrisburg; and a sister, Joan Sturgis of Hometown, PA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who always knew him as Uncle Cookie.

In addition to his wife and his parents, John was preceded in death by three siblings: sisters RoseMarie Becker and Florence Danks and brother Edward Wysocki.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg, PA 17112 with Rev. Matthew E. Cannon as Celebrant. Graveside committal held privately by the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
