IRA SILVERMAN

Ira Silverman, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at The Residence Assisted Living Community.

Born on March 31, 1929 in Providence, RI to the late Max and Ida (Bornstein) Silverman. He was a United States Army peacetime veteran. Ira was retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, where he worked as a computer programmer.

He was a member of Beth El Temple, Harrisburg, a member and past master of Jacob B. McCauley Lodge, F&AM, a member of B'nai B'rith, a volunteer at the Harrisburg Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and as a senior tax preparer. He was also a teacher's aide for the kindergarten classes at Sara Lindemuth Elementary School in Susquehanna Township. He was an avid gardener.

Surviving are his wife, Carla L. Silverman, a daughter, Susan J. Miller and her husband, Chris of Chelmsford, MA, a brother, Harvey Silverman of Florida, 3 grandchildren, Robert Royall and his wife Leah, Rebecca Miller and Deborah Miller. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Lisa Silverman, Sherry Royall and a son, Steven Silverman.
