Doris Lipman, 94, formerly of Harrisburg, PA, died peacefully in Wilmington, NC on September 24, 2021.

Doris was born to the late Meyer and Helen Leibman in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After graduating high school, she worked at the Jewish Community Center where she met the love of her life, Bob Lipman. They married in 1948, and after a brief residency in Lewisburg, Doris and Bob moved to Harrisburg.

While raising her family, Doris was active in many volunteer endeavors, including as a “pink lady” at Harrisburg Hospital, the Sisterhood of Kesher Israel, Hadassah, and most particularly, on the Board of the Guild of the Jewish Home, serving as president of that group from 1985-87.

Doris worked for several years at the employment agency owned by her late brother, Joe. Then she worked for many years at Annabelle’s, a position she loved. When she wasn’t working, Doris and Bob loved to entertain in their beautiful home, hosting many delicious holiday meals and family gatherings.

Doris is predeceased by her husband, sister Libby, and brothers Edward and Bernie. She is survived by her son Rodney (late Sue) of Pittsburgh, daughter Iris Iler (Bill) of Southport, NC, grandson Dr. Jeremy Lipman (Dr. Katie l’Armand), granddaughter Jill Beck (Patrick), granddaughter Dr. Sarah Iler Pfeffer (Dr. Todd), six great grandchildren, sister Sandra Platsky and brother Bernie Leibman.

Services will be private for the family.
