Ruth Udell, z'l, 99, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021. Nechama Riva Bat Yakov was born on May 30, 1921.

 

Ruth was fun, loving, kind, generous, and always the life of the party. She loved to laugh, dance, and her home was filled with joy and laughter as guests came from near and far to experience her warmth; gentle heart; incredible humor and fabulous "Yiddisha Mama" cooking. She loved working with Dad in their pharmacy and later working as office manager for her son, Elliot's podiatry practice.

 

Her favorite expression was "Everyday is a Gift."  She lived each day with joy, happiness and kindness.  She passed 3 months short of her 100th birthday. She was married to her husband Bernie for 79 years until his passing this past October.  She loved her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, Mira, more than life.

 

Ruth is survived by three children: Elliot Udell, Sindy Udell (Ken Josovitz) and Elissa Udell (Mark) Macher; four grandchildren Marielle Macher (David Rothstein), Jared Macher (Amber Chiu), Hannah Josovitz and Ethan Josovitz; and one great-grandchild Mira Rothstein.

 

Private family graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at New Montefiore Cemetery on Long Island.
