Oscar Schwartz, 71, passed away on August 23, 2019 at the Casey House of Montgomery Hospice in Derwood, Maryland.

Born in Munich, he emigrated to the USA in 1950. He was nearly a lifelong resident of the greater Washington D.C. area. He fought a valiant, 22 month battle with gastric cancer and was a model of strength and stoicism throughout his fight.

Surviving are Oscar's family; beloved wife of 50 years Susan Kessler Schwartz; chlldren Rachel Schwartz (Eric) Smithers, Debra F. (Timothy) Hillier, and Aaron L. (Alexis) Schwartz. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and the lights of his life: Molly, Laney, and Timmy Hillier, Ben and Sarah Smithers, and Lyla and Talia Schwartz; brother Anthony (Eva) Schwartz, and sister Doris (Marc) Raffel; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Adelphi, Maryland on Sunday, August 25. Memorial donations may be made to the United States Holocaust Museum, Montgomery Hospice, or the Jewish National Fund.
