NEIL POMPIAN

Neil M. Pompian, z’l, 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Neil was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, with his sister Gail who predeceased him.

He graduated from Roosevelt University in 1962 and earned an MBA from Loyola University Chicago. Neil married Myra Bleiweiss in 1967, and they were married for more than 54 wonderful years. They moved to Harrisburg in 1973, where they built a successful thoroughbred racing supply business over 40 years before retiring to Boynton Beach, Florida.

Neil was a devoted husband and father, who amassed an extensive collection of stamps and enjoyed traveling abroad with his family and friends. When he was not walking along the Susquehanna riverfront and in the Green Cay bird sanctuary in Florida, he could often be found at the local library reading newspapers, magazines, and historical books.

Neil is survived by his beloved wife Myra Pompian; son Shawn Pompian of Washington, D.C.; his nieces and nephews Bari Wolfson (Jeff Leventhal), Ellen Wolfson (Jimmy Carter), Rona Saunders (Brad), Michael Cohen (Cindy), Susan Kulp (Edoardo), and their children. 

Funeral services were graveside on Friday, January 14, 2022, conducted by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Memorial donations in memory of Neil may be made to Hadassah, Pap Corps (papcorps.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
