MICHAEL MERCURIO

Michael J. Mercurio, 78, of Susquehanna Township, passed away on Friday December 24, 2021, at his home.

Born November 9, 1943, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Augustus A. and Thelma (Greybill) Mercurio. Mike was a 1961 graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, where he had lettered in Football and Wrestling. He honorably served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

After his military Service, Mike worked for the family business, Mercurio Brothers Produce. The majority of his professional career was spent as the President of the Federal Glove Co. in Harrisburg, where he worked for 33 years, before retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Robert H. Hoke American Legion Post #272 and former member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Association. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and was the biggest supporter and fan of his grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy L. (Acox) Mercurio; daughters, Andrea (Steven) Weikert and Michele (Frank) Magaro; step sons, Brian and Matthew Butler; grandchildren, Eli and Lexi Weikert and step grandchild, Morgan Butler. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Lentz and Barbara Plumbo (Vincent) and brother, Augustus Mercurio (Marlene) along with numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

His committal service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his life are asked to consider a memorial contribution to the Susquehanna Township Alumni Association Vietnam War Memorial, P.O. Box 61474, Harrisburg, PA 17106.
