Getelle M. Prouser, 89, of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Carolyn's House (Hospice of Central PA).

Born January 12, 1931 in the Hanover section of Nanticoke, PA. She moved to Glen Lyon when she was in the 7th grade. Graduated from Newport Township High School in 1948. Graduated from Penn State University in 1952, with a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching. She was an elementary school teacher in the Harrisburg Public School System. After retirement, she substitute taught in the Harrisburg Public Schools and The Silver Academy (Yeshiva). On December 26, 1954, she married Robert Prouser of Harrisburg. They were married 45 years at the time of his passing in 2000. Getelle was a member of Kesher Israel Synagogue.

She was preceded in death by her parents Myer and Hannah (Weissberger) Mendelssohn and a brother Saul Mendelssohn. Surviving are her daughter Diane Prouser of Harrisburg, a sister-in-law Leana Mendelssohn of Dallas, PA, nieces Elaine Carter of Lancaster, PA, Joanne Zager (Stu) of Reading, PA, Carly Mendelssohn (Matt Eaton) of New Hope, PA, Barbara Levin of Harrisburg, Bonnie Kenewell (Jeffrey) of Dallas, PA, Emily DeShazor of Dallas, PA. Many great-nieces & great-nephews, 3 great-great nieces and 1 great-great-great nephew, as well as many cousins.

Due to the current health climate graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.
