DAVID PRESS

Harrisburg native, David H. Press passed away on February 18th, 2022 in Palm Desert, California. Though his love of life was strong, the body at 98 often can't sustain.

Born in 1923, he was a much beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Press, who grew up during the Depression, was a proud WWII Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated concentration camps toward the end of the war. He absolutely adored his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren and also had a fascinating career in the record business for over 40 years. During that time, he became friendly with some of the biggest recording artists of his day including Mario Lanza, Arthur Fiedler and Elvis Presley.

In the 1980's Press opened a record store and candy store contributing to the rejuvenation of downtown Harrisburg and was a well-known leader in the business community. Dave Press LOVED to dance and was one of the most upbeat and positive people you will ever meet. An avid tennis player and golfer, Dave spent many hours with friends on the links well into his 90's. He continued to regale everyone with stories of his extraordinary life.

He spent the past two years living in Palm Springs with his wife, Sonny, and near his children who are mainly on the West Coast. Dave was constantly in awe of the mountains in the desert and died believing his life was well lived.

David Press was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon, February 22nd at 2 pm (2/22/22 at 2) at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City, California.
