He attended programs at Goodwill Industries in Harrisburg for more than two decades. He later attended a program at CT Home Care Services in Lower Paxton Township.

Brian will be remembered for his great smile and laugh. He was always excited for a good birthday celebration that included ice cream and cake. He enjoyed the simple things in life including good food, watching television, including M*A*S*H, looking at family photos, people watching, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence "Larry" A. Urie.

Surviving are his brother, Daniel B. Urie of Susquehanna Township; his uncle, John D. Shunk of Wheatfield Township; his aunts, Libby Urie of Harrisburg and Elaine F. Minsky-Rowland and her husband, Terence J. Rowland of Baltimore, Maryland, and three first cousins, as well as the Shunk family.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Chisuk Emuna Cemetery, 34th and Oliver Streets in Susquehanna Township with Rabbi Ron Muroff officiating. Brian was buried near his parents, including his beloved mother who passed away in November, as well as his brother, Larry, who used to carry Brian on his shoulders when they were growing up. Brian was buried behind Larry to symbolically be placed upon Larry's shoulders for the rest of eternity.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dominic Glorioso; the staff at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg - 10th floor north, the staff at the Jewish group homes in Susquehanna Township and Harrisburg that are affiliated with Jewish Family Service and Keystone Human Services where Brian resided from 1996 to 2019, and the hundreds of people who provided care for Brian over the years at schools, programs, summer camps, medical facilities, and at places where he resided.
