ALYSSA KIBLER

On Monday evening, October 20, 2020, our fierce warrior, Alyssa Kibler, lost her lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She died as she lived, on her own terms, surrounded by love, powerful and strong. She was a friend, teacher and role model for many.

Alyssa Hillary Kibler, 35, was born July 9, 1985 in Danville PA. She graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in 2003 and Harcum College in 2009 where she became a certified Veterinary Medical Technologist. She also attended Wilson College and Harrisburg Community College.

Her deep love of animals was a recurring theme throughout her life, owning many and loving all animals. She was smart, funny, and generous to a fault. Alyssa never let Cystic Fibrosis define her, despite constant pain and the deafness from medication at the age of 12. She traveled the world with friends when she could, always pushing to do more. She taught bravery and kindness to everyone she met. The nurses and staff on the 6th floor at Hershey Medical Center were her second family. She loved them and they loved her. We can never thank them enough.

Alyssa was a true volunteer. She was the driving force behind "Team Alyssa," her Great Strides walk team for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She adored Walk Day and looked forward to being there to greet her huge team of supporters. She gave her time and dedication for many years to a child in Honduras through Child Fund, as well as volunteering at Londonderry School, the Humane Society, the Jewish Home of Harrisburg, and various soup kitchens. She was a member of Temple Ohev Sholom and a graduate of the Harrisburg Hebrew High School.

Alyssa is survived by her parents, Charles and Honi Kibler of Harrisburg, and two sisters, Brooke Kibler of South Carolina, her very best friend, and Rebecca McCarthy of Mechanicsburg. Her nephew, Aries Bixler and English Cocker Spaniel Lola, were the lights of her life.

Because of COVID restrictions, a private burial and service were held Thursday October 22. The family held an outdoor visitation at their home on Sunday October 25 from 1-3 PM. An online memorial service via Zoom is being planned for the near future.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Attn: Team Alyssa, PO Box 6686, Harrisburg, PA 17112 or by visiting https://rb.gy/dcym5v May her memory be a blessing.
