Limited Kosher Meals on Wheels Available to JCC Senior Adult Club Members

Members of the Harrisburg JCC and Senior Adult Club aged 60 or over and residing in Dauphin County are now eligible to receive two meals weekly, delivered on Wednesdays, through Jewish Family Service’s Finkelstein-Cohen Kosher Meals on Wheels program.

Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging made funding for the meals available to compensate for the temporary closure of the Harrisburg JCC, which hosts two lunch meetings of the Senior Adult Club each week. Eligible members are typically able to receive two meals each week during that program through the Agency on Aging.

“We are pleased to partner with JFS on this initiative to provide support to people in need in our community,” said Jenn Ross, President/CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg. “Many members of our community are safely sheltering in place and are not comfortable and/or able to get to the grocery store. No one should go hungry or feel unsafe refilling their pantry.”

The program is open to all members of the JCC or its Senior Adult Club who are aged 60 or over and reside in Dauphin County. Initial capacity for the program is twenty individuals, though capacity may increase in the future.

Interested individuals should contact Jenn Ross at j.ross@jewishfedhbg.org. JFS is also seeking volunteers to help with packing and delivering meals.
