Community Member Honored by United Way of York County

Last month, United Way of York County recognized Allison Siegelman with its Distinguished Service Award.

Allison has served as a member of United Way’s Board of Directors and Finance Committee, a volunteer with the Allocations process to distribute dollars raised through their Impact Fund, and as Chair of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society Cabinet.

She is also a member of Women United. She says that she was inspired to give back, beginning with Jewish organizations, by the female role models in her life.

“My mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all very involved in Jewish women’s organizations and it is through Jewish youth groups that I began to get exposed to the importance of preserving Jewish self-identity,” she says. “I have always felt that a strong community through camaraderie, productivity, and support brings quality of life to the whole.”

In addition to her involvement with United Way, Allison is a trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation of Central PA, a former campaign chair and board member of Congregation Temple Beth Israel, and a member of the new Editorial Committee of Kol Central PA.
