YORK JCC PLANS SUMMER HUSTLE FUNDRAISER

BY Jessica Montour

The York Jewish Community Center (JCC) will kick off “Summer Hustle!,” a 30-day fitness fundraiser, this month to help raise money for a variety of its programs. The month-long event begins May 30th.

Formerly “Hustle for Hunger,” a walk-a-thon facilitated by Jewish Family Services of York (JFS), “Summer Hustle!” will continue to support the many social services JFS provides to the greater York community.

“The York JCC is committed to supporting JFS and its critical initiatives throughout the community,” said Jonah Geller, new JCC CEO. “Summer Hustle! will allow us to do just that, in addition to enhancing the rest of our enriching programs.”

Beyond fundraising, a major goal of Summer Hustle! is to encourage children, adults, families, and groups to simply head outside and enjoy the outdoors. Participants will be able to track their steps, connect with other individuals and teams, and compete in weekly challenges through the online platform.

“We know that folks want to head outside, especially this year,” Jonah said.  “Summer Hustle! is open to anyone interested in getting out and getting active.  Participants can walk, run, bike, and even swim – whenever they want, as much as they want.”

Funds raised through “Summer Hustle!” will provide financial assistance for families to send their children to the York JCC’s early childhood programs, to support the JCC’s culture and arts programs, and to promote its health and wellness initiatives as well.

“Summer Hustle” is slated to culminate with “Victory Lap,” held June 27th at Springettsbury Park, where participants will be recognized and families can enjoy a socially-distanced picnic out on the Park’s large lawn.
