York JCC Opens Renovated Lobby

The York Jewish Community Center (York JCC) reopened its main lobby entrance on March 29th after a major facelift, including a new art gallery, ornate tile floor, elaborate reception desk, and an overall brighter, fresh look.

While COVID-19 limited the York JCC’s ability to hold a grand reopening ceremony for the lobby - the York County Economic Alliance facilitated a private ribbon-cutting event which can be viewed on both organizations’ Facebook pages.

The new lobby, funded largely by grants from Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, as well as the Powder Mill Foundation, joins a series of York JCC upgrades during the past several years, including an expanded early childhood wing, enhanced fitness center, a second childcare facility in Jacobus, and moving its cafe under new management, now operated by The Copper Crust.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have such a beautiful facility to offer our community,” said York JCC’s new CEO, Jonah Geller. “As COVID begins to subside, we’re experiencing an uptick in foot traffic with a number of our programs - all while continuing to maintain CDC guidelines.
